Objectives
The overall goal of VAGABOND is to create a multidisciplinary and multi-sectoral program to develop an efficient approach to validate new target-drug combinations in paediatric cancer:
We will try to achieve our aim in 3 different scientific areas which gives us our 3 objectives:
- Objective 1: Identification and validation of paediatric cancer specific molecular genetic aberrations and related interventions (studied in WP4)
- Objective 2: Characterization of the epigenetic changes in paediatric cancer and translation to targeted therapy (studied in WP5).
- Objective 3: Typing of the immune environment in paediatric cancer and translation to therapeutic immune interventions (studied in WP6).
All objectives and related work packages will follow the same procedures and scientific steps that are typical in paediatric cancer specific targeted drug development. This process is subdivided in Proof of Concept (PoC) steps, which include: 1. target identification, 2. in vitro and 3. in vivo target validation and 4. combination testing and clinical implementation.
